Mongolia by car? Ridiculous? Interesting? Possible?
London to Ulaanbataar in a 30 year old Volkswagen Bug. Not wanting to make things to easy for ourselves we are taking in the Artic circle and vast steppe of Northern Siberia as a minor detour.
I present a crackpot scheme to drive several clapped-out old cars a quarter of the way around the globe, over 8000miles, across five mountain ranges and two deserts.
Throw in thousands of miles of unsurfaced roads, countless breakdowns, no backup and the very real chance that we will not make it.
Add two respected charities and active media cover and you have a unique promotional opportunity.
The Mongol Rally is in its third year. In July 2006 approximately 100 cars will attempt the epic journey. Every team will be raising money for Charity.
